October 8, 2010 The next day

Natalie woke up at about 1:30am.  My goal was to get her Tylenol/codeine into her before she went to sleep.  She resisted but I pulled out the CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!!!!  Now i'd get results!  Chocolate ice cream in the middle of the night!!!  She could hardly believe this was her mother and not her grandmother better known as "Bama".  HER MOTHER WAS PULLING OUT ICE CREAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!!!!
Ginny woke up.  She got up and helped us out.  Thank God Ginny was there!   It turned out that Jay and Susan had a death in the family and had to leave last evening at 5:30.  I was happy to have someone else there with me although I felt VERY at home at the apartment.  With a doorman no one gets in without being announced and invited! I like that!!

We finally encouraged her to take her medicine. ..Ginny had her laughing.  We all went back to bed. It took time for me to go back to sleep.

Natalie..true to her "rooster" nature woke up at 5:15 a.m.  After some more ice cream it was time for TV. Jay taught me how to use their flat screen TV...in NYC they have kids shows "on demand".  I never heard of that but it's quite amazing...though it is more "instant gratification".  Children don't even have to wait until their favorite  show comes on...the parent doesn't have to listen to "when is it time for my show to come on"...you turn the TV on and choose it and it comes on!  It certainly was useful in this situation though I believe in most situations waiting is better!

We laid on the sofa and she was uncomfortable..wanted that patch off.  She wanted me to take it off...NOOOO...I'll do it...NOOO you do it....cry.......I suggest just leaving it....NOOOO you get the idea.  I'm an esthetician for heavens sake. I used to wax people..the trick is to go fast.. ....I'm GREAT at taking band aids off....NOOOO....do it slowly....NOOOOO I'll do it...and she did.   She very gently and carefully pulled her patch off...then giggled and cried ...and giggled...and cried.  She then put her sunglasses on---thank heavens I brought those---and watched..... yes MORE television.  Yikes!

Happy Natalie watching that wonderful TV with all her favorite shows.

She had some cheerios, got dressed, had hair done, Ginny did her nails in little piglets on one hand and little mice on the other. She was thrilled.  I packed and cleaned up.

Off we went.  The doorman searched for a cab ....

mommy took another photo....

The doorman came back with a town car...uh ohhhhh....I saw money signs with this ride. The doorman explained that he couldn't find a yellow cab and this is all he could offer.  Ginny gave the address and asked if he'd give us a set price...Yes...$20.00...WOW that was less expensive than yellow cab!!!  Nice ride too...a great way to start our travel day.

Natalie was seen by  "Dr. Brian"....

He explained to me that her surgery was "State of the Art".  It was a more than I thought it was..I thought ..or maybe hoped...it was  a mostly superficial spot....well it wasn't.  He  said the area near the iris was intense..he had to use a ...brace yourself....A DIAMOND BURR... to grind it down.  He scraped and ground it until he was comfortable that all the cells were gone.  She has 3 stitches in her eye that will dissolve. YIKES..no wonder she was in pain!  I'm so relieved.   He did explain it can grow back however he said he left ZERO room for that to happen by using that burr...oh I can hardly say that without cringing.  He explained it was a blessing there were at the Eye and Ear hospital because he had all these wonderful tools at his disposal.  Thank you again Julianne for the referral!  I heard he was the best, continued to hear from ALL his patients that he is the best....and he fixed Natalie's eye up he IS the best!

Dr. Brian Campolatarro and Natalie
They put some anesthetic drops in..I requested some for home....he explained that frequent use of these drops slows down healing.

Off to "Crumbs"...yet another treat for Natalie from Ginny...it was right next door to Grand Central Station..Ginny had this all planned VERY well...check it out.

http://www.crumbs.com/

UNBELIEVABLE cupcakes...would put you in the poor house over time but SOOOOOO delicious!

We met daddy at Grand Central and we were homeward bound!

As you can see this is what happened when the anesthetic eye drops wore off...

Then it was time for medicine.  We encouraged to show daddy how nicely she took her medicine..now this photo doesn't do the experience justice..there were tears,  I don't want to's, bribes of candy,  YIKES...I never thought I'd bribe...I did though....one must do what one must to do!  laughing.

Anyway she finally took it.

So now smooth sailing right??

WRONG..stuck at Southwest at our connecting train.  Mechanical  difficulties...
Thank GOD  it was an INCREDIBLE fall day....we waited

and waited.....

and waited....

and waited...

The train was about 45 minutes late...

Finally we are back...

Good Bye Train...until next time!
