October 1, 2010

I spoke to Bob earlier this morning and he sounds OK.. I'll see him later.....it'll be a late arrival for him tonight. No new news with Bob....I can say thank goodness  for all the meds to combat side effects!

Alford News:  I spent the morning with our friend Asa figuring out Bob's computer...Asa is my  Mac  guru and he succeeded in getting  Bob all set up...Bob  has a new email everyone so stay tuned.....he is  preparing for "less talking" in the near future and communicating more through  email.  His voice is getting more raspy at times...not consistent... but it certainly isn't going to improve for a while... so the computer will be a nice addition when he is in NYC.  His blackberry couldn't keep up with the amount of emails he gets through work...plus those little screens are SO difficult to read.  He also couldn't check his personal email from work so this way he'll have the laptop to check email.

After finishing working on the computer successfully and feeling SO GOOD  about the fact that the computer is up and running....( it's been on my to do list  for WEEKS! )  .....I made the mistake of listening to my phone  messages when I got home!    I really wish I'd basked in the good feeling of accomplishment a little longer before checking those messages....

The roof of our rental house in Pittsfield is leaking...quite a bit...UGH.....in many places says the man on the machine.....yet ANOTHER  project!   I left immediately for Pittsfield  to check it out.  Thankfully my friend Abiah's husband Ryan was able to meet me there immediately...he was close by.....and he happens to be a roofer...another blessing.  He'll do an estimate.

I know in every situation is a blessing or maybe more than one blessing .....another  blessing in this  particular situation  is that I was having the insulation work done and the workers just  happened to be working on this house  during the torrential downpours we've been having...the rain we've needed for ages.......the roof issue was discovered by the insulation installers!    I'm sure our tenants do not visit the attic often so the discovery could have been made AFTER the CEILINGS in the 2nd floor apartment were RUINED..Hopefully we bypassed that situation!  I have yet to talk to my 2nd floor tenant to see if he sees any signs of water damage.   The insulation work has been postponed a few times over the summer and I'm SO GLAD they picked now to do it.

So I know it's  " a good thing" that it's been discovered but couldn't the roof have  waited to leak until Spring?????

Enough already!   (laughing)   "ya gotta laugh"!!!!

On a happy and fun note:  Chloe in the Rain!
